The Catholic Club is pleased to announce a major institutional milestone in its journey toward building a permanent home for the community.
The formal Bishop’s Decree has been officially received, granting canonical permission for the use of the word “Catholic” in the name of the Club.
A Significant Step Forward
Following the formal legal registration under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 (Reg. No. DRDK/SOR/23/2026-27), receiving the Bishop’s Decree establishes an essential ecclesiastical foundation for the institution’s identity and public standing.
This milestone reinforces the Club’s core vision:
- Rooted in Heritage: Upholding the values, traditions, and distinct cultural identity of Mangalore’s Catholic community.
- Institutional Dignity: Building a member-governed civic home for fellowship, family life, dialogue, and recreation across generations.
- Community Trust: Moving forward in alignment with diocesan norms, registered governance, and transparent stewardship.
Next Steps
With the Bishop’s Decree formally in place, the First Governing Body continues to advance key priorities:
- Finalizing the acquisition and formal registration of our proposed permanent home on Church Road, Valencia (targeted for December 2026).
- Conducting the limited architectural design competition rooted in coastal Mangalorean and Indo-Portuguese architectural vocabulary.
- Processing incoming refundable membership application deposits from prospective members across Mangalore, India, and overseas.
